For everyone who misses the good ol' country romance between Reese Witherspoon and Josh Lucas in 'Sweet Home Alabama,' there is hope for a sequel. The 2002 film followed Witherspoon as she returns to her small town after making it as a big designer in New York. Being confronted with old feelings, new possibilities, and plenty of southern charm, 'Sweet Home Alabama,' is undoubtedly an American classic.
Josh Lucas, who plays Witherspoon's childhood sweetheart was recently a guest on 'The Talk,' where he brought up sequel possibilities.
“I think it would be so fascinating and obviously I don’t know where it would go, but I think it would be so fascinating to see where these two characters and the children and where everyone ended up," Lucas said. "Are they still together? Are they divorced? Do they want to be back together? I mean, there’s so many different ideas that I think, you know, we all know life is long and complex and they had an interesting relationship to begin with, the two characters,” he explained.
Two years ago during a Facebook Q&A session, Witherspoon brought up her interest in a sequel as well. “We are not making a sequel that I know of, but if Disney wants to make a sequel they can just call me,” she said. “I would happily make 'Sweet Home Alabama 2.'”
Now, if we have Lucas and Withserspoon involved, all we need is Patrick Dempsey and the full cast is in order. Can someone please call Hollywood and make this happen?
