All eyes are on Liz Cambage, the Australian WNBA star who broke the all-time scoring record with a phenomenal 53 points in a single game. The Dallas Wings player used her time in the spotlight to call out the league for inequality in wages, treatment, and professionalism.

“The WNBA is constantly called the best league in the world, yet we don’t get treated like the best athletes in the world,” Cambage said at a press conference. “We sign $1 million contracts in Asia and Russia and get treated like royalty but when we are here in America we are flying in the back of the plane in economy, playing back-to-backs.”

Cambage went on to explain that the gender disparity wasn't just seen in paychecks and perks, but rather on the court and in the atmosphere surrounding the league. She accused the referees of trying to suppress the player's emotions to appear more "ladylike."

"We are women and we are passionate and we are playing hard,” Cambage said. “Let us play our game and try not to soften it because it is making it boring and right now it makes me feel like they are trying to make it more ladylike."

Cambage continued to explain that regardless of stigma, she and her colleagues would continue to break records and perform their hardest. “That’s not how we play. We play like fierce women. Stop trying to suppress our game,” she said.
