CELEBRITY Rachael ray

The celebrity cooking show host, Rachael Ray is the target of a class-action lawsuit over her line of "natural" dog food. Her line called Rachael Ray Nutrish claims to be a healthier, more natural alternative to standard puppy chow, however, the ingredients list tells otherwise.

According to court documents that have been reported on by The Blast, the plaintiff, Markeith Parks claims that Ray's product falsely claims to be natural purely because, “consumers seek out and wish to purchase whole, natural foods for their pets that do not contain chemicals, and that consumers will pay more for foods for their pets that they believe to be natural than they will pay for foods that they do not believe to be natural.”

Parks alleges that due to the chemicals included in Nutrish's formula, the product is “false, deceptive, and misleading.” The main chemical in question is “the unnatural chemical glyphosate, a potent biocide and endocrine disruptor, with detrimental health effects that are still becoming known.”

Glyphosate actually a herbicide that is marketed for agricultural use, mainly to kill weeds.

The lawsuit alleges that the amount of damage from Ray's product exceeds $5,000,000.
